There are many opportunities to get involved with the McMinn County Democratic Party.

If you aren't sure where to start, we encourage you to join us at our monthly Executive Committee Meeting. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6 PM at our party HQ, 9 Kilgore Street in Athens.

Join a Committee

The McMinn County Democratic Party has a number of committees, each of which handles a different aspect of the party's activities. If you are interested in joining one of the committees listed below, please fill out our volunteer interest form.

  • Communications Committee

Communications Committee handles all party outreach and communications. This includes social media management, website management, press releases, and email communications.

  • Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the main governing body of the MCDP. Executive Committee members are elected every two years during party reorganization. Learn more about the Executive Committee here.

  • Fundraising Committee

This committee raises funds for the party, plans large-scale fundraising events, and cultivates relationships with our recurring and/or large donors.

  • Planning & Events Committee

This committee is responsible for event planning and development. This includes planning for our annual Democracy Day Dinner fundraiser and tabling at local festivals, such as Moofest and Pumpkintown.

  • Political Strategy and Action Committee

This committee spearheads action around voter registration and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts.

  • Young Democrats

Young Democrats is a separate, but affiliated organization that is supported by the McMinn County Democratic Party. Young Democrats is open to anyone under 35 that lives, works, or attends school in McMinn County. 

 

 

Attend a Forum, Meeting, or Event

The McMinn County Democratic Party hosts meetings, talks, and events throughout the year. Attending an event is a great way to stay informed about local politics, get involved in party activities, and meet other McMinn County Democrats. Volunteer as a Poll Worker, Canvasser, or Phone Banker

Are you interested in talking to voters in our community? One of the most important ways you can get involved is by volunteering to help with elections, whether by working the polls on election day or performing outreach activities for the McMinn County Democratic Party.
